Meryl Streep is working for the Trump propaganda machine. That’s the only way I can explain it.
Ok, so a lot of people have forwarded me the footage of Meryl Streep flaming Trump at the Golden Globes. If you were thinking of sending it to me, it’s ok. I’ve got it.
And a lot of people followed it up with, “look, see?” As if there was something there to change my opinion about Trump (which, for the record, again, was never that he would be an awesome President, but that he has some of the best persuasion and negotiation skills on the planet.)
But let’s say that I was a Trump supporter, how does Streep’s speech help make me realise the error of the ways, and make me finally realise that, deep down, I’m a racist, homophobic bigot.
(I… I never knew.)
And I thought it’s worth taking a look at because it is just generating so much media noise, but it also harder to imagine anything less persuasive than what Streep served up.
I mean, think about it this way. Say you are part of the CIA-Illuminati-Starbucks world order, and you decide you wanted to drive even more ‘average’ Americans into the loving embrace of the Trump tent.
How would you do it?
It would probably start with gathering together some of the most over-paid individuals on the planet. People who have a certain skill-set sure, but who’s reward for that skill-set far outweighs the social contribution that they make as ‘entertainers’.
I mean CEOs can be overpaid too – but at least they’re building businesses, giving people jobs, and driving the economy along. Sure, still massively overpaid, but at least some of it is justified.
(And don’t get me started on the people responsible for the well-being and education of our children that get paid sod-all.)
Step 2 would be to then gather them together in a gratuitous orgy of wealth and opulence. Make sure it’s black tie because most American’s don’t own a tie of any sort. Make sure it looks like you’ve spent the GDP of a small African nation on napkin dividers and hors d'oeuvres.
(There’s no cheddar cheese on a jatz biscuit, let me tell you.)
Step 3 would be to whip your mob of glorified puppets into a frenzy of insulated self-congratulation. Get them to give themselves awards. Get them to decide who gets the awards. Get them to present themselves with the awards too. Get lots of footage of them giving each other teary, heart-felt applause.
Now that you’ve created a spectacle so far removed from the ‘average’ American’s life that it looks like a nature doco from another planet, get one of them to stick the boot into the Donald.
But not just any one of them. Pick one of them who has incredible skills, and who has built a reputation as an “actor’s actor” by spurning popular movies forms like action and rom-com in favour of more intelligent, art-house type movies.
If possible, make sure she has a kind of condescending school-principal type vibe about her.
Then, just to make sure people are fully alienated, get her to complain about the way her and her glamorous friends feel “vilified” and persecuted. (Her words, though I think she was maybe trying to make a joke..?)
I’m pretty sure Muslims and Mexicans would be wanting a re-count on “the most vilified in America” contest. But no, sure, it’s probably white actors getting paid a bazillion dollars.
At any rate, it’s definitely not working class people left for dead by the relentless march of globalisation. Those people should be donating money to help celebrities deal with the stress of their oppression.
(Oh! And then get her to attack sport, with all the righteousness of someone who “knows what real art is”. I mean, what could go wrong with that strategy?)
Ok, then, as if we weren’t done, get her to attack Donald on something that to most Americans looks like a media beat-up. Donald flaps his arms about and mocks his attackers all the time. One time a newspaper took a freeze frame and says that he was mocking a disable reporter.
Trump has denied it time and time again.
But even if it were true it does nothing to sway Trump supporters – the ones who say, “I might not like everything that he thinks, but at least I can trust him to say what he thinks.” Trump’s popularity is built on a perception of F-you authenticity.
What’s worse, it smacks of the moral smugness that characterised the Clinton campaign. The idea that Trump couldn’t be president because he just wasn’t morally cuddly enough.
If people cared about that, they wouldn’t have voted for him. But they did, so it’s time to get past the judgy snobbery and look at what’s actually going on.
Maybe you could pull Trump up on the way he seems to be executing his strategy of ‘draining the swamp’ by stacking his cabinet with swamp monsters – 17 Wall St and Washington insiders with more wealth than the poorest 50m Americans combined.
How’s that going to play out?
(Yes, to be honest, I’m disappointed.)
If you want to be productive, rally Americans together to hold Trump to account. You promised us a different kind of politics. Where is it?
But telling off ordinary Americans in the middle of an orgy of self-entitled wealth and opulence just isn’t going to cut it.
It’s only going to make people love him more.
Whose side are you on, Mez?
What did you make of it? Effective? Hopeless?

i hardly know where to start jonno. how come you know so much about the fuzz buzz of american tom foolery? seems to me that acting is all b.s. anyway. its got to where its not what you know but who you know. many years ago we had actors who could dance magically and sing like canaries. but now they are like plastic imitators of inhabitants of some far off planet. and talking about planets..where are we headed? now here is a good question jonno: do you really believe that america is a good place to invest in real estate right now? would you place your golden eggs on the anvil? reports i get from very reliable sources is that unemployment in good ol’ USA is soaring over 25% and heading north. the reason : robotical takeovers and the 8 years of obamerism that is now drawing to a climax. expect fireworks in the next few days. this morning i received an email headed ‘ Hilary Clinton’. i opened it and read the lead transcript. that was ok then i was directed to a link and boy the red rockets went up. danger area it said! is hillary up to something? anyway to answer your question about effectiveness and hopelessness of m.s. tirade. i don;t give a rats arse about anything hollywood does. it is a dead in the water goner. the sooner they drown all those parasites the better off we will be. sorry to be so blunt.

Ron, Thank you. I like and respect your intel/information and I agree with you. Please keep well. We need more people like yourself, precious one.
Jon, I do not know what you are trying to do here; distracting/disinforming people or remaining ignorant to the real issues that we face. Who cares about Hollywood shills and their propaganda. Cabal controls all sides of the politics, hollywood, media, pharmaceutical, banks and everything. Please be neutral, don’t believe in anything, use great discernment on anything. Sadly nothing as it seems…

Hear Hear, Ron!
I don’t know why actors still think anyone remotely believes what they say or do (they’re only actors as you say), but who cares anyway? Even their “actual” (not real) lives are only entertainment. Just look and Brad and Janet (I mean Angie)…
As for what’s really happening in America… Try this for size.
So many people are now unable to afford to live on normal residential properties with ordinary houses on them that they are turning to living out in the sticks in converted shipping containers. America, it seems, has huge mountains of these sitting around, redundant, after one trip from China full of goods for Costco, Walmart etc. As America is no longer a major manufacturing nation, most of those containers never get re-exported, and it’s uneconomic to send them back empty, so what better use for them? The rule of supply and demand means there are loads of cheap containers available. Take a look at this site (just one of many out there now):
http://www.containerhomeconsultants.com/standing-in-the-firelight-of-builders-hell/
It’s not hard to see why the people want a change from all the rorting and exploitation, lies and ripoffs that make up American history. Looks like the Revolution is going to start in the US, rather than Europe, though it could go either way. (Homeland Security is picking it’s them first, and they may be right.)

Yep, I’m so over the Hollywood generally is against Trump crap. They are the ones with their “head up their ass”. Also they’re blinded by what the elite want. I saw it “first hand”, by seeing an Australian Hollywood star in the Brisbane Princess Alexandra Hospital icu waiting room with her elite believing new husband and friends. Well, when you begin your career playing slutty female roles, well that explains everything about who she is and how she wants to be thought of, (even if later on the horse has bolted and she takes on more “normal roles”. (Once a tart, always a tart dear heart).
I’m all for Trump and what he stands for and am so tired of the crap propoganda that’s being brought out against him.
The elite are so evil and wrong and they’ll pay for what they’ve done and are trying to do to humanity.
Yep, shut the hell up Hollywood. Go back to sleep. The elite will never ever ever EVER win!. Their greed driven empires will FALL!!!!!. (ENOUGH SAID).
Thankyou Gian.

hi jonno..forget meryl. the donald is in the crosshairs of the ‘deep state’. the inauguration will not take place. obama will be retained and declare martial law in USA. fema camps will do the rest, that is after the russians send them to buggery. our world is in turmoil but you won’t read about it in m.s.m or on tv. as always the action will be in the northern hemisphere and for the first time american mainlanders will get a taste of war..well a big dose thereof i mean. they just don’t get it, the americans. you cannot be a world bully forever.
invest in american real estate? you will be buying a ‘bomb’! stay here jonno. of course its your call. at the moment there is a huge influx of US military ; tanks, weaponry and troops into eastern europe for the battle with russia, which country will be blamed for the C.I.A. assassination of trump. thats enough to start a war isn’t it?

well Ron – that is my prompt to make this ancient memory – way back in 1974 I watched a t.v. show in Melbourne made entirely on the basis of the prophecy’s of Nostradamus and the one that I have always remembered most is about the ‘bear rising up against the eagle’ and the ‘war OF ALL wars’ times was the overall directional consideration – put forward in that quatrain. There was a multitude of other references that are still partly or best part remembered like – all the giant mosquitos zooming in the skies dropping ‘eggs’ that exploded … add other on – on .,. This memory of that show has never left my background awareness, now my t.v. front line looks like it is travelling near to showing me the a lot of single quatrains are not an anonymous reality.
There is not any way on this earth I would worry about being in favor of living in any other country, this is IT, if anyone is so emboldened of need to take further advantage of the already near to desperate inability of common American citizens who cannot buy or have their own home owing the totally corrupt American upper class (all of them) then it is despairing to note having others outside that country also swooping up the financial betterment of cheap homes when so many people have to abandon the right to live in a house and live broken on the streets. Monopoly was always a stupid game to me and we have come way too far towards crippling the Whole of HUMAN(E)ITY and it MUST end – .

Spot on Jon. Many of those Hollywood ‘stars’ employ Mexicans as gardeners, cooks, drivers and house cleaners – all on minimal wages (lower than minimal wages here in Australia). I think Meryl was just being stupid but moral. Hollywood is great because it shows that anyone in America can become rich and famous, even if they’re stupid – but as long as they are beautiful!
If you look at Trump’s program for his first 100 days, it looks wonderful and I don’t think anyone would oppose it. Except it is almost certain to be impossible to implement in 100 days. Even 100 months would be challenging in the real world. Unfortunately there is an element in America who will oppose Trump no matter what he says or does. They will work continuously at trying to bring him down and remove him. Trump is so thin-skinned, he reacts to everything said about him and his enemies work on that. Even assassination is possible, his left wing enemies hate him so much.
ron goddard says
thanks to eddy and kiwi al. you both seem to have things a bit in reality. nothing worse than delusional ‘omg what happened?’ people running around buying up everything for investment. its just not time for this at the moment. wait . everything comes to those who wait . when i was keeping wickets for my local freo team..every ball bowled i would say to myself ‘wait back’… and the ball would lodge quite safely into the gloves, ever ready for that stumping chance that might not be at that exact moment..i stumped quite a few batsmen 2 to 3 seconds after the ball arrived. just by waiting for when they nudged over the line or overbalanced. no good trying until their foot is over the line, like so many keepers do on tv. i loved playing cricket. especially when i got a bowl. as a batsman i was not in the class of sir donald.lol my average i have forgotten. today’s batsmen are marvels..they smash the ball all over the place. maybe the yanks could play cricket. especially meryl.

I think Meryl has certainly earned another Oscar for her feigned indignation act at the Golden Globes.
The only ‘disrespect’ I’ve seen has been from the collective mainstream media to the elected presidential candidate of the USA.

Hey ronno, you seem to be mostly on negative side of things but in life it’s never like that. However, whatever you believe to be true becomes true. For you. So watch what you think and when spreading bad news be particularly careful because you are potentially creating more of your kind which has an impact on how the rest of the world vibrates, ronno. I say that because I like reading your comments(!)

It looks as though the Aussie larikin lad has displaced the merely cheeky wog boy component.
And a word of warning Mate, you should beware getting blisters on the tip of your tongue and insides of your cheeks, from over-working that propensity.
“I did not mock that guy!” / “I did not have sexual relations with…” Nothing changes at the top of that grand muck heap. “You can’t fool all of the people all of the time”, but tell a lie often enough and many will believe you – especially when you’re preaching to the converted. The rest won’t vote for you anyway, no matter what, so don’t worry about them. None is so blind as he who does not want to see. And it seems that there are plenty of gullible, blind Yanks.
But, as you ask, “What happens when the gullible wake up to reality that the swamp has increased in size and power?”
Changing tack, it seems our Aussie political scene is not all lily white either. Filthy lucre raises its ugly head yet again. Power almost inevitably corrupts.
But did our recently resigned minister jump, or was she pushed? We’ll probably never know the details of the pressure brought to bear by influential power-broker colleagues – self-interested bullies – power hungry and money hungry, all.
“When will they ever learn?
“When will they ever learn?”
Incidentally, was she educated in real estate investing by Knowledge Source?
Maybe you’re to blame Jon – by putting ideas into the poor girl’s head in the first place. (Sorry about the doubtful applicability of the word ‘poor’. She is one of our Aussie politician after all,)
