This is a really interesting story.
A guy came up to me and our last Internet Mastery Secrets event in Sydney, thanking me personally for getting him out of the rat race.
To be honest at first I didn't recognize him at all.
He introduced himself as the guy who came up to me 15 months ago at our last Sydney event and said that he was going to use the information that he learnt and turn it into a six-figure business within 12 months.
He was even more specific than that, he said that he was going to make $700,000 in 12 months and that he would be one of the success stories the comes out as a direct result of this event.
Now you're probably thinking that this happens to me all the time.
Well, it doesn't actually happen all that much – especially the way this guy put it to me.
What does happen is that many people thank me for a great event, some tell me that it was exactly what they were looking for, others comment on the calibre of the speakers, etc etc etc.
Very rarely does anyone come up to me and say that their goal is to get a specific result within a defined timeframe…
So what's the big deal – and how can you use this process to make a difference to your life?
Well there's a powerful lesson in all this and that is unless you have a specific and clearly defined goal with deadline then it's unlikely you will achieve any success.
There is another powerful message in this and that is exactly what this guy did… He made his goal real by telling me the exact outcome.
He didn't keep it to himself, he put it out there and told the world.
His name is James (I have to keep his surname a secret just for the time being).
James last month went to his boss and handed in two sets of car keys, both of them Mercedes, as well as walking away from the $300,000+ job.
You might be thinking that being on a good wicket he was able to create a truck-load of cash and hence was able to just walk away.
You might also be thinking it was an easy thing to do being a high income earner anyway. Let me tell you, it would have been a lot harder for James to walk away from a huge salary and a lifestyle that he built around his income.
James said to me that he could have walked away earlier, however he wanted to make sure that it could consistently produce cash from the Internet before he told his boss that that was the plan.
I asked James how he did it, I mean if you're on a huge salary, it's not as if you've got a lot time at your disposal to work on other things.
James told me that he would work for one hour a night studying, learning, watching and applying his knowledge. As his skills increased so did his ability to make money.
Hey! That's exactly what I did 8 years ago myself. I still do it today, spend just 1 hour a night adding to my skill-set.
My question to you – is how much time do you spend on developing a financially valuable skill?
Here's something else you need to know, James also is married and has two young kids as well.
So within 15 months James replaced his $300,000+ income. A little short of the $700,000 promised to me in Sydney, but I don't think he's upset.
I also asked James why he told me about his goal 15 months ago. He said that he is a proud person and by telling somebody else what he was going to do, made him accountable to follow through and not be a typical seminar junkie who says he can do it and never does.
The lessons here are…
First, verbalise and commit to a big goal with a specific dollar amount and the timeframe due to complete it by.
Secondly, make yourself accountable to take action by telling someone you respected and someone who would think less of you if you did not follow through.
Thirdly, invest in yourself as part of an ongoing process.
Fourthly, next time you meet me at a seminar, commit to a financial goal with a specific deadline.
Maybe within the next 12 months you can toss in your 9-5 job and live life on your own terms.

How do you do it, I want to toss my permanent night shift out but don’t know how to

I think it was a great post and something i should do to help myself.Having a specific goal or defenite chief aim is great ,but not good enough as it needs to be measurable and you need to be accountable.

OK Jon, great story, but a few details would help. Seems everyone has the latest and best method or product, but feel a lot of them are scams.
Checked one out; over inflated price, 60% of sale price went in commissions.Just ripping the public off!!!
Read a bit of Tom Hua’s piece in Millionaire Phenomena; looks interesting, but where do we start without even a product to sell???
In meantime thanks for news letters and books etc already sent.
